Live in townhouse so can't have big grill. this one is perfect size.for small partys and for a family of 2 to4 people for cooking. i would like to have known that it didi't use nautural gas . You have to use LP gas from tanks. i do like you can use the small tanks they have for camping equipment if you run out in ememrgency.. it doesn't use rocks so you won't get that taste you would ith lava rocks. it has temp guage on top for when its closed. . The workmanship and the quality of is verrygood brass burner sosit will last. Comes with grill cover that also covers the tank soa small plus. We use it at least 3 times aweek .. the size and shape will also make it a plus for cooking outside in the winter.

 "Nothing short of Perfect!" 2009-08-14
By Erwin K. Meimer

The Masterbuilt Veranda Stainless-Steel Grill is absolutely perfect for our apartment balcony. My girlfriend just loves it! The assembly took just a few minutes, and the quality of the materials is outstanding. The stainless steel is easy to clean and looks very classy. Even though the grilling surface is on the small side, the heat distributes very evenly, even to the very edge. We had a party with five people last weekend, and the grill had no problem keeping up with us.

The best feature is the fact that the grill works with the small 16 oz. propane canisters (usually used for camping). Instead of attaching one of those ugly big, white, heavy tanks, we use the grill exclusively with the 16 oz. canisters (which last for about four grilling sessions). There is a hanging attachment for the small canister on the side of the grill, which keeps the entire grill attractive (a big, ugly, white tank on the floor would certainly mess up the good looks). The 16 oz. canisters are available at Wal-Mart for about $2.50, so we always keep a few in our closet.

If you do not mind paying a few dollars extra (as compared to some other grills), this is the grill to get for its outstanding looks, functionality, and that 16. oz propane capability.

"Great Grill till you need parts" 2009-07-07
By D. Van Vactor (Benton KY)
I have had my grill for 4 years and have enjoyed it greatly. Now I need the drip pan, cooking grate and therometer and cannot buy them anywhere. What a waste to make a stainless steel grill that will last for years and not inventory parts for it. It is back to Charbroil for me. They carry parts for years.

"Great grill, but try to find parts" 2009-06-08
By D. Holley (Hazleton, Pa)
I have had my Masterbuilt for a few years now, and the only problem that I have had is that the inside bowl that covers the flame has rusted through.

I contacted Masterbuilt, and they told me that they no longer make this grill and there are no parts for it. They told me that I should go to a local welder to make me one. Right; that will happen.

I don't want to get rid of a SS grill that cost over $200 for the single cheapest part on the grill that isn't SS, so I need to come up with a solution on my own.

So much for customer service.

"Not the Ducane you remember" 2009-09-22
By Brian (Ferndale, MI USA)
Ducane Affinity 3100 propane version arrived today.

All parts were in one box .. three major parts were dented or chipped.

Assembly instructions are good, it all went together in less than an hour even with a bunch of interruptions.

Alas, the only resemblance this has to my 15+ year old Ducane is the name. While I cannot tell yet about the quality of the burners or valves, it is clear that Weber seriously downgraded the quality of the cabinet and surfaces one expected from Ducane.

Overall fit was not terrific, and there were chips in the paint around the firebox - the area subjected to the most abuse and most likely to rust over time.

Three nice features of the old grill: one set of large wheels which allowed movement on bricks or grass, phenolic handles on the left and right of the lid which never got hot and a side work surface with a removeable cutting board which easily went into the dishwasher or allowed one to assemble in the kitchen and move to the grill.

The new grill has small wheels which cannot go onto grass and are rough on brick. The now common front bar to lift the lid gets rather warm, and requires you to put your arm right over the hot grill and subject your arm to the escaping/rising heat. The work tables of the 3100 got uncomfortably warm and are permanently attached to the grill requiring outside cleanup.

The fact that it is made (mostly? entirely?) in China is sad - Ducane was mostly US made in the past, and I liked knowing people were earning a real living here in the US.

I will be interested to see how this grill holds up - I doubt I'll get 15 years from it.

I bought this grill after several hours of research because the brand Ducane is owned by Webber. I read that the components are very dependable, which was the highest priority on my list. I've owned this grill for 3-4 months and cook on it a few times a week. It cooks very evenly. Assembly was straightforward. I'm happy so far.

Friends always comment on the grill and how nice it is. Doesn't cook 100% evenly so I can't give it 5 stars, but it does cook much more evenly than the $100 Sears brands I've purchased in the past. It's got enough space for a small-medium (25 person) cookout IMO. Well designed and great craftsmanship. Very sturdy, wheels around the deck nicely, and makes good use of propane considering the 3 burners. I recommend it, assuming u're okay with not getting 100% even cooking, but very close.

I have had this grill for 2 months now. The grill was easy to put together with the use of a impact driver. The grill heats up fast and hot spots are a minimum. The ignitor doesn't always light one of the burners on the first try but that is a minor detail. When all said and done very happy with my purchase.

"It doesn't get more portable than this one" 2009-09-08
By M. Ford
I originally bought a portable propane grill but found it took up too much space and sold it on craigslist after using a friend's portable Weber grill at a recent tailgate. I was about to buy one of those until I came across the Bayou grill.

Gotta love the portability and design. You can't find a grill that takes up less space in the trunk and has the same ample cooking area. It even comes with a nice bag to store it in. Unlike the other "portable" grills, I can keep this in my trunk all the time. On those factors alone, I would give it 5 stars.

While its reasonably well-made (this isn't the $10 grill from the local drugstore)..it isn't the quality of say, a Weber portable grill. That being said, it has a larger cooking area and takes less space in the trunk. However, its not a grill that I would leave outdoors between use.

For an occasional tailgater, like myself, it works perfectly (or for someone who doesn't expect it to last more than a a season of heavy use). I did hesitate on buying this because it didn't have a cover, but again the trade-off was trunk space ;)

Because the price seems to keep going up, I've only given it 4 stars given its getting close to the price where one might expect a little more in terms of quality. I wish I'd bought a second one as a spare early on.

By lpac (US)
Heavy metal case and the fold down capability is great for portability. We've bought this grill to cook on the beach and it does a great job, I never did like the built in bbqs.

The only downside is I've managed to bend the metal in multiple places, the paint is starting to come off and there is some rust. This grill went through heavy use, almost every weekend from May 2009 to September 2009.

 "Best portable grill" 2009-08-14
By Leeanne M. Frascona (Fort Mill, SC)
I love this grill and would recommend it when space is an issue. I've used it for two tailgating seasons and it's holding up better than I would have imagined. At [...] bucks, how could you go wrong? You could buy a new one every season for a lot less than the meat you put on it. Cooking is adequate for an open top charcoal grill, grilling surface area is pretty large considering and construction quality is decent. Design is great. The grill is reasonably stable after being assembled. I would recommend having some paper towels for cleanup in case any grease has run down the side of the grill. Setup and packing is easy. Only negative is the sides tend to warp a little after several uses due to the metal being exposed to the hot coals. It may require a little bending back into shape after multiple uses, but this is not really a big deal as you'll see how a little flex inward will keep the upper grill tightly placed as it's the key to overall stability. When you consider how this grill folds up to a few inches thick, a minor quirk is ok with me. The bag is good quality and keeps any ashes remaining sealed away during transport. For tailgating, I can't think of something better when space is a concern. If you have room for a half drum smoker, go for it, but if you're in a small suv or car with some friends, this is the way to go. Five stars for price vs. value.

We like our new grill very much. Still have some things to learn about using it, but we like the design and how it works so far. It seems a lot sturdier than most of the grills we looked at and also it's not so enormous as some of them are. We especially like the simplicity of it.

Was looking for a full size grill with sides that fold down (we have a small patio). This fit the bill and it works great. My husband is the one who does most of the grilling and he loves this one...my only complaint is that it is heavy and if you have to move it around much it can become a task. It cooks beautifully tho' and as I said the sides fold down when not in use.

 "Weber Q 300 - Fantastic" 2009-09-09
By George Holmes (Lincoln, AR United States)
I've been a Weber charcoal grill user for years (still have three of them), and finally wanted to take the gas-grill plunge. I did some research and was all ready to go with a slightly larger unit ... until I realized I was about to "over-buy" (Weber Spirit series), when what I really needed would be for two or three folks at most. I reconsidered, and that's when the Q300 came to the top of the list.

It went together easily, comes up to proper temperature quickly, is easy to keep at the right temperature, is easy to clean, and the fold-out trays on left and right are more than gimmicks, they work fine.

A clarification. I read in the Weber literature that the cart was "stationary", and so figured that the wheels shown in the picture were fake. Not to worry, it rolls as needed. I am sure it has to do with the fact that one has to lift on the opposite end and then push or pull (like a tea cart or wheelbarrow), and it may also be Weber's concern that folks will have an accident with the propane tank on-board while moving it around. If you're careful, can lift one end before rolling, and are on a fairly smooth surface (deck, patio, etc.), it's easy to get it into or out of the area needed. Not as easy as a four wheel cart, but fine.

But back to the cooking. The two burners work fine for direct and indirect cooking styles, something Weber kettle cookers should know all about. With the center burner off, there's an area about 8x12 for indirect cooking. If you need more room than that on a regular basis (like cooking 2 whole chickens at once), then you should consider the larger Spirit or Genesis models. Otherwise, this is more than adequate.

I've cooked vegies, brats, pizza, fish, chicken, even an apple crisp dessert in the 3 weeks we've had it, and everything's been great!

"After 20 yrs of cheap grills, this is so great." 2009-09-21
By Danno (Atlanta)
I could have gotten many more buzzers, bells and whistles for the same money or even less, but I have put up with cheap grills for too long. Between replacing parts every year, fighting fires every time I grilled and dealing with uneven heat, I finally had enough and splurged on a good grill.

I could tell while I was assembling it that it was 10 times sturdier than my old Char-broil. The first time I cooked Chicken on it, I did it exactly the way the cooking guide that came with it said. Six minutes each side on medium direct heat. I never even checked on it, I just put them on flipped them after 6 min. Then 6 min later checked the temp, and they were perfect. My old grill they would have been charcoal on one side and raw on the other.

I did get the porcelain coated cast iron grates. I would definitely recommend that upgrade. They came with the grill at Home Depot for the same price as the cheap ones that came from Wal-Mart. Be sure to make sure you are getting the good grates before purchasing.

Like I said this is a basic grill, no side burner, or infra red heat. But I hardly ever used the side burner on my last grill; I think I can sacrifice extras for a good basic grill. I love it.

I got the cover through Amazon for $10-$20 less than anywhere else. It is a Weber brand cover and it too is 10 times tougher than any cover I have had before

"Great grill...not hard to assemble" 2009-09-17
By Adam Masek (Houston TX)
I purchased this grill after a lot of research and the mistake of not buying a weber grill several years ago.

Only used a few times so far but I am perfectly satisfied.

Wanted to disagree with a few of the posters on the assembly. I am a tool guy and consider myself a bit better than an amatuer mechanic, but this grill was a snap to put together.

There is one step (lifting the grill chamber into position) that is a two person must. Other than that, it took me about one hour (with a 4 yr old "helper") to assemble this grill, and there were no issues. I did not use the enclosed "tools" that came with the grill as I used my own socket set, but I see no reason why they would not have worked, just a tad slower on tightening bolts.

I did not find the pictures directions hard to follow, in fact I found them a bit easier than some of the descriptive text instructions I have followed in the past.

Buy this grill (especially with free ship from amazon) and you will not be dissappointed

"Do NOT order from amazon.com" 2009-08-07
By Michael D. Patton (Atlanta, GA USA)
Do NOT order this grill from amazon.com. Buy it already assembled from a local retailer. The grill arrived without 3 of 4 packs of nuts, bolts, screws, etc. needed to assemble the grill. I called Weber customer service to get the missing items. The customer service person was cheerful, polite, respectful and eager to help. She would have the missing items shipped overnight that day. The package arrived, but was still missing some items. So I called again and got the most apathetic rep I have ever experienced. She said shipping was backed up and didn't know when I would get the delivery. It arrived in two days, but was still missing some items. At this point the grill is half assembled and taking up half the garage so a car can't be parked there. I call Weber again and get a complete jerk of a service rep. He has an attitude and says how can I not have all the items when two assembly kits have been sent to me. He rudely questions everything, puts me on hold, and finally says he will ship the items. This was last night so I have not yet received anything and he didn't say how or when the shipment would be sent. I called back and insisted on talking to a customer service supervisor or manager and told him of my complaint. Pay whatever extra it might cost to have it assembled and delivered by a local retailer. It has been two weeks now since the grill was delivered and is definitely not worth it. I would have returned the grill to amazon.com, but there is no way I could get all the pieces back in the box. That is another consideration - if you should need to return the grill because of a defect or other reason it would be impossible to repackage it yourself.

 "Nice!" 2009-08-03
By October Rose (Philadelphia, PA USA)
I'm very pleased with the grill, although admittedly I've only used it for a month. It heats quickly and evenly, and has plenty of cooking area - we like to grill veggies along with the meat. Construction is sturdy. I wish the burners were on the front of the grill to allow more shelf space on the side, but that's a minor issue. My grill arrived with the two front doors crushed, and I had to call Weber/Stephens for replacement. They were extremely helpful and promised an overnight shipping, however the doors are back-ordered and have not yet been shipped to me.

"You get what you pay for..." 2009-08-03
By Arif Demirel
...and this grill certainly delivers!

The grill was delivered free through Ceva, they called to set up a drop off time and were right on, very professional.

Putting the grill together was enjoyable, the illustrated instructions made it very easy. The finished product is very well put together, for Weber's entry line. Some of the finishes and touches you would find on the higher end models are missing here, but the grill delivers just like the big guys.

The burners come to life instantly and deliver a good consistent and even heat. The electric ignition is a very nice touch, but make sure to inspect it occasionally because overtime moister can get in there.

I bought this grill after doing over a month of research, visiting home improvement stores and talking to grill owners. I found that this is the best bang for your buck. I have talked to multiple people who have had their Weber since the 90's and have had nothing but good things to say about them. I would highly encourage anyone looking for an entry level grill to seriously consider this grill, after all, by the time you add up how much you would spend on multiple grills to match the longevity of this grill, you would have spent way more then what the Weber costs.

Happy grillin!

"The best smoker on the market and easy!" 2009-10-01
By J. Schorr
I just hickory smoked a rack of ribs for about an hour and a half. I used Camerons Hickory Wood Chips along with a little bit of Apple Wood. Then basted it with BBQ mop sauce I made from Apple Cider Vinegar, Tomato Paste, Ketchup and brown sugar while finishing the cooking in the oven for an hour to an hour and a half at 225 degrees F. Then finished the ribs under the broiler for a few minutes each side with my favorite BBQ Sauce.

All according to the recipe in the book that comes with the smoker (Except the basting sauce I made). The ribs came out better than any resteraunt I have been in.

It is easy and really good. I recommend buying extra bags of wood chips once you find what you like. Buy them in the 2 lb. bags and it is very reasonable. You use dfferent wood smoke for different meats, fish and almost anything.

The next thing I try is smoking my own salmon and then I will try to smoke some cheeses (Mozz. and provolone)

I cannot recommend the Camerons Smoker enough. No smoke escapes the smoker just a light fragrance of the wood smoke.
