 "Good, but not great" 2008-11-10
By Taxguyla (Los Angeles, CA USA)
As far as the actual grilling process goes, this little baby works pretty good. It seems to grill things pretty evenly. It is compact and very easy to carry around.

My biggest complaints is with the physical contruction of the grill lid. The lid only opens 90 degrees straight up. If you use lighter fluid (like me) when starting your briquettes, the flames can really heat up the lid. By the time the briquettes are ready though, the lid has cooled to just "very warm" though, so the handle can be touched without fear of burning yourself. So, I can live with this. I'm not sure why they didnt make the lid fold back 180 degrees though.

Secondly, the nuts & bolts that hold the lid to the base are fitted quite loosely. I think this was somewhat on purpose to allow the lid to easily lift up and down. However, they were way too loose for me. The lid wobbled considerably when raising or lowering it. Since I am kind of handy, I got out some tools and tightened the bolts up. This was a pain in the you-know-what though because it was in very close quarters.

If you can look past these lid shortcomings, I think its a nice little grill. I'd actually give it 3.5 stars if I could. 3 stars for the contruction and 4 for the grilling ability.

The Char-Broil CB Collection tabletop grill is the little cousin to the CB Collection full size charcoal grill and has many of the same features. This little guy has an extra heavy-gauge steel construction, an easy access firebox, two dampers for easy heat control, pre-seasoned cast iron grates, a temperature gauge, and 240 square inches of cooking space. This heavy duty compact grill is a great value and is definitely built to last.

 "Great Grill" 2009-11-21
By Outdoor Chef (Fernandina Beach, FL)
A really good portable grill. Light enough for portability, but heavy enough to last. Not large enough for a family reunion, but great for six ribeyes! Delivered in four days and was relatively easy to assemble. A solid buy.

 "Right-sized charcoal grilling" 2009-11-16
By S. Folena (VA, USA)
This is a great little grill for a family, even with four kids. It's big enough to cook for four, a bit tight trying to do steaks for six, but it works like a champ. Used it to smoke some chickens the first week after it arrived - the temp guage made it easy to monitor my progress without having to open the top. Easy to load and restoke the charcoal, easy cleanup. Not too big -- a great size for a small deck or patio. Portable? I suppose it could go with us, but it's just a tad large to cart around on a whim. Sturdy construction. Be sure to follow the "seasoning" instructions to promote good grill health.

 "table top grill" 2009-11-12
By G. herridge (South Texas)
I purchased the Char-Broil "CB collection" Grill. It is heavy-duty. After I did a few changes it is perfect for what I was looking for. Number one to me a good charcoal grill is when you close all the vents the fire should go out and pretty quick. This grill as sold will not do that, first theres two holes where a rotisserie goes, then theres the vent hole in the bottom with no cover or regulating devise on it, so i made covers for the rotisserie holes and a turning cover for the bottom vent. Then theres the slide out ash tray with air leaks on both sides and top so i made a cover for it.When i close my grill with all vents closed the fire will go out. I think another improvement would be a little heavier duty charcoal tray this one moves around and small pieces fall through maybe a tray with holes instead of small wire frame? Maybe a nice slide vent in the bottom like the ones in the top? I looked at a lot of small grills and for the money this ones the best in my opinion.

"bang for the buck, so worth it" 2009-09-13
By Keith Tam (brighton, ma)
I actually bought this at home depot on close-out, and it was well worth the price ($15-18, included a 2 lb bag of kingsford charcoal). Construction appears to be on par with weber in regards the body, the grates are a little bit thinner in guage, but still serviceable. I like the fact that bbq comes with both an intake and exhaust vent to facilitate even charcoal burn, and the possibility of making it a mini smoker or use it as an indirect heat bbq, which I've used it in this fashion many times. But I had to to buy two extra piece - one being an extra grate with legs and a foil pie pan to hold water or catch drippings in order to use it in indirect heat / smoker fashion. Using the "mini" minion method, I'm able to get a slow burn of around 200 degrees for 3-4 hours, enough for two half rack of ribs.

One of the great things about this unit is that easy clean-up is facilitated by an ash pan that can collect everything neatly and can be thrown out. The other added advantage is that the legs are stabilized by a tension ring and have rubber feet to deal with uneven surfaces, I believe it to be a much better design compared to the smokin' joe.

Since I normally cook for me and my gf, this grill totally fits the bill. In one session, I made 1 half rack of ribs, 2 chicken quarters, 8 oz rib-eye (direct heat), grilled asparagus and mushrooms all on one burn of charcoal. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the item

 "Try quality instead!!" 2009-09-11

I love this grill and have had great meals with it. My choice was between a Weber and this one. I made the right choice. Don't go by a name brand, try quality instead.

"Where are the reviews ?" 2009-06-11
By RENAISSANCE MAN (san antonio, tx United States)
This item has been sold for years. When it was marked down under 25 dollars several times it was an Amazon Mover and Shaker...many, many have been sold ....but where are the reviews? Not one in years? Hard to understand how not one of thousands ever had a single comment about this grill... please, if you own this tell us what you think.

To post this I had to give a rating, so I chose 3 stars.

 "Love this grill" 2009-09-14
By C. Butler (ND United States)
I have used this grill every day since I recieved it and I can tell you it is a good product for the price. It is not too small and it was just what I was looking for so I did not have to mess with charcoal or propane. It may be a little hard to assemble as the directions are limited. Have fixed steaks, veggies and the lowly hotdog and all were very tasty.

"These Meco Electric Grills are great" 2009-01-25
By William L. Bennett
Over the years, we have owned several Meco electric grills, and have always enjoyed them. The heating elements don't last forever. They burn out usually after about 2-3 years of use, but considering the cost of propane, they are still much more economical than gas, and also less trouble. Just turn on the switch, and you're grilling. They cook very well, and produce great tasting foods. We highly recommend them.

 "great grill" 2008-06-15
By Patricia Yoder (Wickenburg, AZ)
I bought this grill for my son in Mn. He was a bit discouraged with putting it together. After using it a few times he says he likes it. Used it for steaks & chops cooking with apple chips to get the smoke flavor, & turned out great. This is a nice grill as it is portable so can be used anywhere and anytime, summer or winter.Quick and easy, not as good as charcoal, but cheaper. I have had one myself for 9 years and I love it.

 "WORKS JUST GREAT" 2007-11-21
By Ronald C. Kollmeyer (Ft Myers Beach, FL)
The grill works just great. I do nice thick steaks on it as well as veggies and fish. Great for lamb chops also. This is my second Meco 9210 grill. Bought my first one last year and used it as a table top grill. Decided to buy another one (the old one was getting too messy to work with) and mounted legs on it so it stands alone. Meco's other models on stands are too wide for my Condo's balcony. The 9210 is the smallest rectangular size they make and with steel legs that I added, it works out just fine for me.

 "Well pleased" 2007-01-14

We bought this grill to carry along in our RV. Since we seldom park where there is no electricity, it has been a great little grill; quick to get into operation, easy to clean and put away.
