 "Best Grill Ever!" 2009-07-27
By Hassen Sheikh (Fairfax, VA USA)
My wife and I were looking for the best quality gas grill at first. Everything we looked at was cheap quality and "You get what you pay for". The higher end Weber gas grills cost over 1000.00! We ended up getting this Weber charcoal instead. My parents a similar Weber grill and it lasted 22 years! This grill is very solid and I highly recommend it.

 "Charcoal is great" 2009-07-23
By Spirit of Joy Church
I have used Weber grills for 30 plus years. For the first 25 years I used only charcoal. Since I love to cook year round and it gets so cold during the winter months I decided to try a Weber gas grill. It was fast and easy to use but the flavor was never the same. After 5 years of complaining my wife gave in and let my buy the Performer Charcoal Grill. After a few months of relearning to use charcoal I now enjoy the flavor of true grilled food.

The grill was easy to assemble, it took less then one hour from start to finish. The side table is great and much easier then trying to hold a tray or setting up an extra table for supplies. Having the charcoal bin is very convenient although if you use twenty pound bags when they are full are a little clumsy to pour. I now fill up a couple of five pound coffee cans and keep them under the grill on the shelf. The gas starter works great and the coals are pretty much ready to cook on in about 10-12 minutes. The ash can is easy to remove and empty, just remember to have the wind at your back when dumping the ashes. The Performer is a great Weber product and worth the price.

"After three years use - a revised review" 2009-07-20
By J. Cady
I started out very enthusiastic, recommended this grill on many occasions. But it has durability and design issues which drive me crazy after 3 years given how easy they would be to fix. The problem is Weber has no ability to convince consumers that a charcoal grill with a gas start is by far the best grill to have so they compete only on price. To move and roll the grill one lifts on the end of the plastic table. The table is now cracked on both sides at the stress points. The push button starter, which I have once replaced, only works about 1/3 of the time. It won't worked for weeks and suddenly it fires. The ash can underneath fills with water faster than it fills with ash. The baskets are made from aluminum parts that slip together but fall apart when you move them around full of lit charcoal. Digging charcoal out of the deep bin is a messy job. But if you care what food tastes like this is still the best choice for a grill.
