"Perfect for a small house or apartment" 2009-07-15

I am a college student and though I am used to the large gas grill at home, a grill of that size is inconvenient for me since I change residences often and don't ever have that much space. I was pleased to see that this grill came in both charcoal and gas configurations since I find charcoal takes too long to heat up and too often with these little grills just doesn't get hot enough to really grill the food.

The ignitor works well once it is bent into the right position; normally I only have to turn the gas on and click it once to get the flames going. If I turn it up to high, the grill will be hot by the time I run back inside to grab the meat. The grill does get hotter on the end furthest from the gas regulator, but I like this since I am used to keeping different parts of the grill at different temperatures. The flavorizer bar seems to do a good job of dispersing the heat across the width of the grill, but I really like it because I can toss some wet wood chips in a foil tray and lay that right in on top of the flavorizer. That adds a nice smoky flavor without smoking out you and your guests like charcoal does. For propane, I use the fatter tanks that are sold at most hardware stores and places with a camping department. These tanks are larger than the recommended size but still fit the regulator. It seems to run for about 3-4 hours total on one tank. Once the grilling is done, the grill cools down enough to be taken back inside in about ten minutes.

There are only two things I regret about this grill. First, it has a thin wire grate instead of a nice case iron one. Even so, I have had no trouble getting those nice grill lines on my food. Second, I found this same exact grill at a thrift store about a week after mine came. One of my friends liked mine so much that he went and picked that one up. Sadly he paid much less for his.

 "Dissapointed" 2009-07-14

I owned a Weber 1520 Propane Gas Go-Anywhere Grill for about 10 years and absolutley loved it! When it finally wore out, I decided to buy a replacement.

It was hard to find one, but when I found it at Amazon.com, without even considering the price, I went ahead an purchased it! Well, when it arrived, I put it together just in time for our 4th of July BBQ. Oh boy, wasn't I dissapointed. It was hard to light, but we got it lit, and then the heat was not balanced on the cooking surface, so that food had to take turns over the heat! Turned out that the steaks we cooked had to be finished inside, because it just never got hot enough. BUt, we decided to give it another chance with just some hamburgers. This time, we could not get it to light at all, so we had to use a match to light it - the igniter obviously had a problem. Again - the heat (set on high), was uneven and just did not get the job done. Realising that the value of the WEBER name was not in this Grill - I deciced to return it for a refund. My feeling was that it was very cheaply made and there are grills on the market for half the price of this one that would give me the performance that I was getting from the new Weber. All-in-all we were very disspointed that it did not work.

"great grill for camping and at home" 2009-07-10

This grill has been great so far, with a couple caveats:

1. Starter has only worked successfully once, although this is easy to get around with a 2 dollar grill lighter (basically an elongated lighter)

2. One side of the grill definitely gets hotter...not a big deal once you know which side is which, as you can use the cooler side for less intense grilling.

Otherwise, its been great.

 "Weber Propane Grill" 2009-07-09

I recently (7/09) purchased the Weber Propane Gas Go-Anywhere Grill to take to a cookout at a park and at the beach. It is Great!! It heats up quickly, cooks evenly, is easy to carry and cleans up easily. With the igniting feature you don't even need a match and we were able to cook 8 nice size burgers at one time. I highly recommend this grill.

"Give this one a chance!" 2009-07-01
By T. Quinlan (Port Ludlow, WA)
I have been grilling for a long time, usually on my Weber charcoal grill (I have had several). But last summer I used a Weber Q and decided that I wanted to have one for small, quick meals. But this year was one where I had to find something for a little less money. So I went to Amazon and found this little gem. It works wonderfully. It is great quality for the price and it works so well that I haven't used charcoal since I first cooked on this one. It does cook a little hotter on the control end but other than that it smokes so well and is so reliable that I have become spoiled. Weber puts out a quality product and you won't be disappointed.
